1969: Inception of Florence Nightingale Primary School.
1981: Upgrading the Primary School to the status of Matriculation Higher Secondary School.
1984: Launch of Valliammai Polytechnic Institute.
1985: Launch of SRM Engineering College in Kattankulathur, near Chennai.
1992: Launch of SRM College of Nursing and SRM College of Pharmacy.
1993: Launch of SRM School of Nursing and SRM College of Physiotherapy.
1993: Launch of SRM Institute of Hotel Management in Chennai and Trichy.
1993: Launch of SRM Arts & Science College, Kattankulathur affiliated to the University of Madras.
1995: Launch of SRM Dental College.
1996: Launch of SRM Polytechnic Institute.
1996: Launch of Easwari Engineering College, Ramapuram, Chennai affiliated to the Anna University.

2002: UGC has declared the SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai comprising SRM Dental College, Ramapuram as deemed to be University under Sec. 3 of the UGC Act 1956.
2003: SRM Engineering, Kattankulathur, Chennai was brought under the ambit of SRMIST, Chennai a deemed to be University.
2005-06: SRM Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Chennai, was started in the SRMIST, the deemed to be University. And School of Education, Faculty of Science and Humanities, Kattankulathur.
2005: SRM College of Pharmacy, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, in Chennai and SRM Institute of Management and Technology, Modinagar, Delhi was brought under the ambit of SRM University.
2006: The UGC in September 2006 permitted the Deemed to be Universities to be called as Universities under Sec. 3 of the UGC Act 1956. Since then SRMIST deemed to be University is called as SRM University.
2007: SRM Kattankuthur Dental College and School of Public Health (SPH) was started under the ambit of SRM University.
2007: SRM Muthucharam, Community Radio launched at the SRMIST campus, Chennai.
2009-10: Chennai Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (CMCHRC) at Irungalur village, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu.
2010: Inter Disciplinary School of Indian System of Medicine.
2010-11: TRP Engineering College, Trichy, Affiliated to the Anna University.
2011: Launch of Faculty of Science and Humanities, Ramapuram Part – II Vadapalani, SRM University.
2013: SRM University Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana.
