The NorthCap University (NCU) is a private university recognised by UGC and located in Gurgaon, Haryana. The NCU, Formerly ITM University, Gurugram was founded in 1996 as the Institute of Technology and Management (ITM), Gurgaon by Educate India Society.
The institute gained the status of a State private university, called the ITM University, Gurgaon, in the Academic Year 2009-10 under Act No. 25/2009 by an Act of Legislature of Govt. of Haryana and accorded UGC approval under Section 22 of the UGC Act 1956.
The NorthCap University became an unaided, self-financed private University in 2010 duly recognized by UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act of 1956 and the Bar Council of India and has the right to confer degrees under Section 22(1) of the UGC Act, 1956.
