AISSEE 2023 covers admission to Class VI and IX of Sainik Schools and Class VI of
approved New Sainik Schools for the academic year 2023-24.
About NTA: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established in November 2017. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. NTA conducts exams for admissions to premier higher educational institutions.
The responsibility of the National Testing Agency is limited to inviting online applications, conduct of the AISSEE 2023, processing and declaration of result and providing the merit list to the Sainik Schools Society (SSS).
About SSS: Sainik Schools Society (SSS) is a registered society under Societies Registration Act 1860. The Society has entrusted the responsibility of conducting the AISSEE-2023 for admission to Class VI and Class IX for the academic year 2023-24. Sainik School Society manages all Sainik Schools in India.
About Sainik Schools: Sainik Schools are English medium residential schools affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Sainik Schools prepare Cadets to join the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla (Pune), Indian Naval Academy in Ezhimala and other Training Academies for officers. At present there are a total of 33 Sainik Schools in India.
Approved New Sainik Schools are approved by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in partnership with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)/ private schools/ State Governments.
These Approved New Sainik Schools will follow the Rules and Regulations prescribed by the Sainik School Society. They will also impart education of Academic PLUS curriculum to the students of Sainik school pattern. The fee structure, Education Board and language of Instructions of approved New Sainik Schools differ from School to School.
Admission in Sainik Schools
Admission open to Class VI and Class IX in all India Sainik Schools through a written exam called AISSEE 2023 for the academic year 2023-24. Admission is based on the performance of candidates in the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE).
AISSEE 2023
The National Testing Agency or NTA organizes all India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2023.
The admission of candidates will be carried out on the basis of e-Counselling
as per rank secured by the candidates in the School wise, gender wise, category
wise merit list of AISSEE 2023, medical fitness approved by competent medical authorities and verification of original documents.
Note that admission to Sainik School pattern in the approved New Sainik schools will be at class VI level only for the academic year 2023-24.

AISSEE 2023 Eligibility Requirement
- For admission to Sainik Schools Class 6:
- A candidate should be between 10 and 12 years as on 31 March 2023 for admission to Class VI, i.e. he/she should have been born between 01 April 2011 and 31 March 2013 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2023-24.
- Admission for Girls is open for Class VI. Age criteria is same as boys. Candidates are advised to check the availability of seats for girls.
- For admission to Sainik Schools Class 9:
- A candidate should be between 13 and 15 years as on 31 March 2023, for admission to Class IX, i.e. he should have been born between 01 April 2008 and 31 March 2010 (both days inclusive) for admission to the academic year 2023-23. Admission to Class IX is not open for girls.
- He should have passed Class VIII exam from a recognized school at the time of admission.
For admission to Approved New Sainik Schools: Admission to approved New Sainik Schools for the academic year 2023-24 in the Sainik School Stream is only at the level of Class VI.

AISSEE 2023 Passing Marks for Admission to Sainik Schools
AISSEE 2023 passing marks is 25% in each subject of the exam and 40% marks in aggregate of all the subjects. However, no minimum marks are prescribed for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.
SC/ST category candidate will be admitted on the basis of inter-se merit at the Entrance Examination within their respective categories, subject to their meeting the eligibility requirements, medical fitness and verification of requisite documents.
For Admission to approved New Sainik schools: A candidate is eligible for admission to the approved New Sainik Schools, if he/ she secures a minimum of 25% marks in each subject of the exam and 40% marks in aggregate of all the subjects of AISSEE 2023.
This criteria is applicable to all candidates who wish to seek admission to approved New Sainik Schools including SC/ST candidates. Criteria of domicile/category are not applicable for admission to approved New Sainik Schools.

67% of the seats are reserved for candidates domiciled in the State/ UT where the Sainik School is located. 33% of the seats are reserved for candidates from Other States and Union Territories (UT).

AISSEE Registration 2023
Instructions and Procedure for online submission of Application Form. There are three steps to follow for admission in Sainik School through All India Sainik School Entrance Exam (AISSEE) 2023 viz. Registration, Application Form and Fee Payment.
Step-1 Registration
Apply for Online Registration: First of all you have to register for Online Application Form on official website (Examinationservices.nic.in) and note down system generated Application Number.
After successful submission of the personal details, Application number will be generated and it will be used to complete the remaining Steps of the Application Form and will also be required for all future reference/ correspondence.
For subsequent logins, candidate will be able to login directly with the respective system generated Application Number and created Password.
Step-2 Application Form
Fill Online Application Form: After registration, you should complete the Application Form very carefully. You will be asked to upload scanned images of the followings:-
- Your recent Passport size Photograph (10kb to 200kb in JPG format),
- Thumb impression (10kb and 50kb in JPG format),
- Signature (4kb to 30kb in JPG format),
- Domicile Certificate,
- Date Of Birth Certificate,
- Category Certificate (where applicable),
- School Certificate for Class V (New Sainik School) (where applicable).
The photographs must be taken on or after 1st July 2022 preferably indicating clearly the name of candidate along with the date of taking the photograph. Photograph should not be with cap or goggles. The focus needs to be on face (80% face coverage, ears clearly visible, on white background).
The candidate should scan his/her domicile certificate, caste certificate or service certificate as applicable and the date of birth certificate for uploading. File size must be between 50kb to 300kb in PDF format.
Step-3 Fee Payment
Pay Examination Fee: You have to select Debit card/Credit card/UPI/Net banking option to pay the application fee and follow the online instruction to complete the payment of fee.
After successful payment, candidate will be able to print the Confirmation Page. In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled and the candidates have to approach the concerned bank for refund of amount.
However the candidate has to make another payment/transaction, in case the Confirmation Page is not generated.
NOTE: A candidate can make changes in his/her form till payment of fee. He/she will not be allowed to make any changes in the form, after payment of the fee.
AISSEE 2023 Admit Card
Admit card will be hosted on the NTA website https://aissee.nta.nic.in 15 days prior to the date of the exam. In case candidate is unable to download Admit Card from the website, the candidate should approach the NTA Help Line between 10:00 am and 05:00 pm.
